The Metrolite II is exactly what I was looking for
I am so happy I decided on Brenthaven MetroLite II. I searched for a long time to find just the right bag for my MacBook. I am a student and didn’t want to put my Macbook into my backpack because of the tremendous weight my books would place on it. That much weight isn’t good for the screen. I wanted a case that wasn’t too big but had enough room for some other accessories. The MetroLite II is exactly what I was looking for and I love how well constructed it is. The interior design molds around my 13″ Macbook so it doesn’t flop around and the extra pockets are more than enough for my needs. (It holds my power cord, pens, pencils, keys, IPod, other chargers for my IPod & Pulse Smart Pen, and could even hold my Mini external drive as well as one notebook.) It is very well constructed. I have never dropped my laptop but now feel good it is well protected if an accident occurred. I would highly recommend this bag.
I can't imagine a more suitable bag
All-in-all, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better bag for a MacBook Pro. I'm not sure how well a thicker laptop would do in this thing, but more my purposes, I can't imagine a more suitable bag.

I finally found the Metrolite II
After meticulous research on the "perfect" case for my new Macbook, I finally found the Metrolite II. I wanted a bag that had a snug fit for my 13'' Macbook, and offered solid protection but without all the bulk. Most of what I found was either a single neoprene sleeve, that really just protects against scratches and a 'light' bump; or full size laptop cases with either no storage or way too many pockets.
