The bag is well made
This handsome bag is perfect for netbook carriers – men and women alike. I like it because it has enough space for my netbook and pockets for my wallet and other essentials, so I can carry it without needing to carry my purse as well. My husband likes it because it doesn’t look “girlie.” :) The bag is well made – the straps are sturdy and the fabric easily cleaned. The flip-front flap is unique and nice in that you can give the bag a whole different look just by “flipping and clipping.”
100% of this bag is high-quality
100% of this bag is high-quality, high resistance synthetic materials. So far, I was unable to identify any potential weak spots, prone to breaking or tearing. It can probably easily accommodate a multiple of the maximum weight anyone is ever likely to carry. I liked the easily-adjustable but non-removable shoulder strap – it’s really the only way you can carry your load. I was also a little surprised to see ONE handle on the back of the bag because I can’t think of any situation where I would use it. The bag looks quite stylish in a unisex way and the 2-style flap allows some flexibility in looks. Additional flaps are available at the Web side, if you are willing to pay almost as much for the ‘extra’ as you did for the whole bag. Most extra flaps are just different color and texture combinations.
The bag is 10.5″ wide, 12.5″ tall and about 2″ thick. The above dimensions make it a perfect fit for most netbooks. The computer compartment comes with some VERY effective padding that should offer pretty good protection. The bottom pads are especially thick but the walls and corners come with some serious reinforcements too. These combined with the tight fit should make the Brenthaven product one of the better if not the best netbook case when it comes to protecting it from falls or other shocks. There are lots of things I like about this bag. It’s very protective of my netbook, has a reasonable amount of extra pockets, it’s light and it’s made of high quality, strong materials. Not to mention the flippable flap.
I LOVE this bag!
I LOVE this bag! The first impression both my husband and I had when we took this bag out of the box is that it was STURDY! I went through a number of laptop protector cases in the store a couple years back to search for something that would protect my laptop against the crush of heavy law school textbooks and nothing I found was nearly as well padded as the netbook compartment of this satchel. And because the little messenger flap can be disconnected to switch to either tan or gray (both of which look really nice), you can remove it altogether and use the satchel as a protective case and it easily goes into a backpack without much excess bulk. (That’s what’s also amazing about it as a satchel. Most netbook users choose netbooks to rid themselves of excess bulk and weight. Brenthaven keeps this fact in mind and designed it to be as slim as possible without sacrificing protective quality.)
The satchel includes a small zippered compartment in front; a ring to attach keys; pencil compartments; and another open pocket. The back of the satchel has a narrow pocket that closes with velcro and a little carrying handle. My only wishes for this satchel: a)that I could fit my wallet into it (then again, my wallet is huge and that would sacrifice the slim/light nature of the satchel); and b)that the adjustable shoulder strap was removable altogether.
The Feel and Construction of the Satchel is Solid
The feel and construction of the Satchel is solid, and it does not 'get in the way' like a full-size laptop bag does. I like the minimalist touches - no outside pockets or flaps, just a very clean looking bag. The shoulder strap is solid, and I like the elastic straps for securing headphones to it.The inner compartment has good protection, and there is room for a few extra things in there, which is good. I've also found it useful to put my Neoprene Sleeve for iPad in there, too, which offers double the protection. Without the Sleeve, there is still good room for papers and such. The iPhone pocket on the front is a great touch, as well as the keychain and pen pockets. I also find the zipper pocket on the front handy for small items I carry, plus change. The front compartment is rather tight to fit larger items in there, but it does work for most things I need to carry with me. I've been taking the bag to work every day and a lot of people are wondering who made it and where I got it. So it is getting noticed. And since our store is only carrying a standard set of cases and sleeves right now, we haven't seen any bags such as yours - yet. I've already told people they can order the Satchel through your website. Thanks for sending me the bag; I've really enjoyed using it! S.R., Apple Store employee, California
A GREAT BAG
Ever since I purchased my iPad when they first came out in April, I have
been looking for a quality case to keep it in for traveling. When I saw the
Switch Satchel Amsterdam,, I immediately liked the style and design, I
thought the reversible cover was kind of a novelity, but it was nice to
switch the cover around to the rubberized side on rainy days. I was also
impressed with Brenthaven's zero impact goals. When my order arrived in the
mail another pleasant surprise was how generous the shoulder strap is, and I
even have enough room in the case to keep my latest copies of MacWorld &
MacLife in the main compartment with my iPad.
Brenthaven, this product is a home-run!
